FMCSA to Issue Sleep Apnea Rules THIS YEAR | 5/17/2010 |
Today, in the May 17th issue of Transport Topics it was officially announced that a new set of rules regarding the screening and treatment of drivers with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) will be coming by the end of 2010. Over the last few years experts both the sleep health and trucking industries have anticipated such a rule was coming though all information as to the specific timing and content of the rules has not until recently been known.
Now more than ever it is imperative for companies to be prepared and pro-active by putting in to place a Sleep Health Program within their fleets. The headaches and frustrations that can follow post-rule delivery for some corporations can be avoided by early action.
Sleep Access can help with its fully customizable Sleep Health Programs. With Sleep Access you can screen your entire fleet for the prevalence towards OSA, test drivers who show a risk and treat any drivers diagnosed positive without the need to add more staff or become an expert yourself.
